Job Description:

We're seeking a dynamic leader to step into the role of Assistant Vice President, Life & Health Product Underwriting, Governance and Control. This high-impact position combines strategic vision, technical expertise, and operational excellence to redefine how we deliver value to our customers.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Product, Pricing, underwriting Governance, Control and Strategy for Life and Health at TD Insurance, you will play a pivotal role in driving excellence across our Life and Health Portfolio. As AVP, you will lead a team of specialized experts in Life and Health Products, medical underwriting, and control functions.

With accountability spanning TD Insurance diverse portfolio – including Travel, Life, credit protection, balance protection and accident ickiness products. You will have the unique opportunity to shape a portfolio that impacts millions of lives while driving innovation, growth, and operational integrity.

As the AVP you will:

  • Lead Strategic Innovation: Leverage your expertise to design and execute forward thinking product strategies to keep TD Insurance ahead of the curve.
  • Define Underwriting Excellence: Develop and implement underwriting framework that are both innovative and grounded on risk management best practices.
  • Governance with Precision: Ensure operational excellence by establishing robust governance and control frameworks that uphold our industry-leading standards.
  • Inspire a High-Performance Team: Lead and develop a team of product, underwriting and governance and control specialist fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
  • Champion transparency, diversity, and inclusion by empowering team members to bring their authentic selves to work and contribute to a supportive, equitable environment.

What are we looking for

  • Proven Expertise in the Insurance Industry: Deep experience in product development, underwriting, and governance for Life and Health insurance, including Creditor and Travel protection.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive actuarial experience in life, annuity, and/or reinsurance
  • Bachelor's degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
  • Fellowship in Actuarial Societies (FSA/FCIA)
  • Highly advanced people management skills, demonstrating ability to lead, mentor and develop associates and teams.
  • Exceptional ability to make timely and effective decisions and produce results through strategic planning and the implementation of initiatives, programs, and policies.
  • Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines.
  • Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, and schedule resources.
