Meridia Recruitment Solutions has partnered with KEEL Brands Ltd. to recruit a Human Resource / Administrative Assistant to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Keel Brands is a leading branded food service operator throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. With ambitious expansion strategies, Keel Brands aims to substantially grow its presence by opening more than 15 Quick Service restaurants across Atlantic Canada over the next 3-5 years.
Role Description:
Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Operations and Chief Financial Officer, the Human Resource / Administrative Assistant will perform and support a wide variety of HR and Administrative functions for the organization. This will include recruitment and onboarding efforts for a growing business, maintaining accurate employee data within the HRIS, ensuring payroll data is accurate and in line with Labour Standards, and implementing Health and Safety policies and procedures at the restaurant level.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Perform all aspects of an efficient recruitment and onboarding process, including preparing job descriptions, screening resumes, conducting screens/interviews, drafting employment letters of offer, and administering onboarding paperwork;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information within both the company-wide internal HRIS system, and the back-office system for each individual restaurant;
- Support the successful execution and processing of payroll by collecting relevant employee timesheet data and relaying to the finance team;
- Create and update human resources policies and procedures, as needed;
- Prepare reports on various labour/HR metrics (i.e., sales per labour hour, turnover rates, etc);
- Assist with the implementation of Provincial Health and Safety policies, procedures, and training at restaurants;
- Assist with immigration matters by preparing employment letters and tracking and verifying work permits;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you are a dedicated and technologically inclined HR or Administrative professional, with a keen eye for detail. You are able to work both collaboratively with various teams and also independently, with minimal supervision. Additionally, you have demonstrated the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and your organizational skills allow you to manage multiple competing priorities.
Qualifications include:
- 1-2 years' experience in a fast-paced HR or administrative role, with preference given to those with experience in quick service or restaurant environments;
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (I.e., Human Resources or Business Administration) would be considered a strong asset;
- Familiarity and experience maintaining HRIS platforms would be considered a strong asset;
- Knowledge of Provincial and Federal labour standards;
- Strong attention to detail, with a demonstrated track record of accuracy;
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision, and collaboratively with diverse teams across the organization;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.);
- A valid Driver's License is a requirement for the role, to allow for travel to/from restaurants.
