Demands, duties, qualifications
Job Summary
This is an independent nursing position that carries out haemodialysis in a satellite unit. The incumbent is responsible for ongoing assessment, intervention, monitoring, educating and evaluation of clients with stable end-stage renal disease that requires dialysis. The clients are initially assessed and treated at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's and are screened as suitable candidates for the satellite site. Clinical and medical backup will be provided through the Renal Dialysis Program at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's. The incumbent will also provide necessary teaching to clients and families, and provide ongoing monitoring of the client situation. As well, the incumbent keeps abreast of technological skills needed to perform duties (e.g. complex equipment and procedures) and participates as an active member of the regional team. Employees may be exposed to Hazardous Medications.

Constantly stands/walks and works in awkward or cramped positions to assist with procedures.
Constantly uses fine finger/precision, auditory, sensory and visual concentration to provide and conduct risk assessments, observe/monitor patients, to complete documents, follow directions, administer medications, etc.
May be subject to time pressures/deadlines and subject to lack of control over work pace.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required.
Current practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL).
Current in Basic Life Support Level C - Basic Rescuer.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
