Demands, duties, qualifications
The primary purpose of this position is to provide testing in ECG, Stress testing, and Holter Monitoring to the EKG

Laboratory, in Goose Bay and Labrador City.

Qualifications
:

  • Successful completion of a recognized Diploma in Cardiology Technology;
  • Completion of an approved 2 year training program as a Cardiac Technologist;
  • Current registration with the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT);
  • Current certification in CPR;
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties (include but not limited to):

  • Work independently as Cardiology Technologist I, at Goose Bay & Labrador City with additional duties for technical and

supervisory work in the specialized field of cardiology for nursing stations attached to the hospital.

  • Responsible for ensuring relief staff to be booked for replacement to cover leave, sick days and emergency planning.
  • Engage and ensure quality of work, education and training on equipment for staff.
  • Support other staff members for technical performance.
  • Do educational and technical teaching sessions for staff and nursing stations.
  • Resource person for all community clinics within Labrador Grenfell Health attached to Goose Bay & Labrador City.
  • Collect and utilize data to prepare monthly reports.
  • Assist Regional Director in evaluation for new products and equipment and review of tenders.
  • Order all supplies related to the department in Goose Bay & Labrador City.
  • Involved in upgrading cardiology diagnostic services in Labrador Grenfell Health.
  • Ensure all patients are explained all the procedures with oral and written standardized instructions as per protocols.
  • consent forms when needed.
  • Receive all the EKG's from all the nursing stations under the hospital. Do the recording in Medtech system on daily basis,
  • process the files for Cardiologist to read and send all the reports back to nursing stations in a timely manner. File all the
  • reports in health records in the hospital and the Cardiology department for future reference.
  • Perform Holter Test Monitor and analyze ambulatory recordings for cardiac arrhythmias or significant cardiac changes and prepare reports for cardiologist. Maintain Holter machines, supplies and equipment.
  • Perform stress test in presence of Physicians and prepare patients, give instructions, observe during test and print reports for Physicians. Maintain Stress Machine and Stress room and supplies.
  • Perform test and prepare report for ambulatory blood pressure monitors.
  • Provide clinical instructions to nursing staff and clinical clerks as needed to perform EKG. And how to document all data for record and follow-ups.
  • Work independently under general clinical directions.
