Demands, duties, qualifications
Reporting to the Pharmacist-in-Charge at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the primary purpose of this position is to provide pharmaceutical services at the Labrador Health Centre
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have experience in professional pharmaceutical practice (Regional Health Authority experience preferred) and must be eligible for licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Pharmacy Board (NLPB) and provide proof of membership with the Pharmacists' Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (PANL) and provide proof of malpractice insurance;
- Strong communication and presentation skills as well as an ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment;
- Demonstrated experience with interdisciplinary rounds, medication reconciliation, and Accreditation Canada Standards;
- Knowledge of Meditech and Kroll computer systems will be considered an asset;
- The candidate should possess a knowledge of inventory procedures, and the healthcare Group Purchasing Organization (GPO);
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct
Duties and Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to)
- Perform clinical and distributive aspects of pharmacy related to acute care and long term care clients/residents;
- Provide comprehensive assessment of clients' medication requirements and therapy;
- Provide clinical consultation services to health care providers throughout the region;
- Participate in product preparation requiring aseptic technique (chemotherapy, as well as other admixtures);
- Participate in the development of policies and procedures for the safe procurement, storage, preparation/use and administration of medications;
- Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds as well as provide ongoing education to other clinical services;
- Provide pharmacy representation on hospital or organizational committees;
- Provide pharmacy coverage at the other two hospital sites in the region as required;
- Other related duties.
