Demands, duties, qualifications
Reporting to the Manager of Mental Health and Addictions, the primary purpose of this position is to provide specialized mental health and addiction services to individuals, families and groups in the area, including assessment, counselling, education, referral, and advocacy. The incumbent works within a multidisciplinary team setting, and in addition to clinical services, works with other team members to develop and deliver health promotion and other educational sessions in the community.
Qualifications
:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, or a Clinical Counselling discipline;
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in assessment and counselling preferred;
- Experience in mental health and addictions, including individual, family and group counselling;
- Demonstrated knowledge relating to withdrawal management, stabilization, and harm reduction strategies including Opioid replacement therapies
- Experience in crisis intervention and the ability to respond to the emergent needs of clients.
- Knowledge and experience in the areas of health promotion/prevention and the development and delivery of education and training programs;
- Strong analytical, facilitation, written and oral communication skills;
- Certificate of Conduct and Eligibility for registration with appropriate regulatory association;
- Valid driver's license.
Duties include:
- Provides addictions, concurrent, withdrawal management and treatment services to individuals and/or family members;
- Provide assessment, counseling, and referral services;
- Facilitates individual treatment plans through consultation with client(s), family members and other service providers;
- Provide therapy to clients and families, based on client needs and goals;
- Locate and arrange resources, in consultation with other service providers, based on clients' needs;
- Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team in the development, implementation and evaluation of services;
- Develop and deliver educational/mental health and addictions promotion programs;
- Must have considerable knowledge of Best Practice Standards in the area of addictions, withdrawal management/stabilization, concurrent disorders, and of the principles of harm reduction;
- Be expected to travel throughout the region, as deemed necessary, and will provide health promotion and prevention services based on a population health approach.
- Utilize the principles and practices of Continuous Quality Improvement in service and program delivery;
- Provides support to other members of the multidisciplinary team across the region, which may include providing coverage and/or traveling to various parts of the region to assist with service delivery;
- Maintain workload statistics, completes accurate and timely clinical documentation through the Client Referral Management System;
- Perform other related duties as required
