Demands, duties, qualifications
We are currently seeking the services of an Administrative Officer 1 at the Labrador West Health Centre in Labrador West. The position will provide direct administrative support to the Medical Services Department of the Labrador-Grenfell Zone of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, as well as support the Chief of Staff at this facility. The position reports directly to the Medical Services Regional Office.

Qualifications:

  • This is highly responsible work of a confidential nature; therefore, the successful candidate must demonstrate:
  • The successful satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
  • A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
  • Education (General)
  • Graduation from High School or equivalent
  • Education (post-secondary)
  • Completion of a recognized two-year business/ office administration program (or equivalent combination of training/education will be considered)
  • Competencies and Skills
  • The successful candidate should possess excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills and must have considerable experience meeting deadlines, while maintaining a high level of productivity, accuracy and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in database management and other computer applications (Microsoft suite) would be an asset.
  • Experience
  • Three to five years of administrative experience of a progressively responsible nature.

Scope of Duties: (Included but not limited to)

  • The primary purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive and independent administrative work in planning, organizing and coordinating functions for the Medical Services Department in the Labrador Grenfell Zone.
  • This position is the principal administrative position that supports and enhances the efficient and effective functioning of the Department
  • The position provides support to local Medical Staff through the Chief of Staff based at the Labrador West Health Centre - Labrador West
  • The Medical Services Department provides a diverse array of services aimed at providing and maintaining an organizational structure for the Medical Staff of Labrador-Grenfell Zone of Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services. The key functions of the department include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing and directs the operations and administrative processes associated with Medical Staff
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the Senior Medical Officer, Regional Director of Medical Services, Chiefs of Staff/Clinical Chiefs and Other Physician Leaders
  • Coordinating recruitment and retention of Medical Staff
  • Coordinating annual evaluations, appointments and reappointments of Medical Staff.
  • Coordinating the credentialing process
  • Providing support to the medical staff association
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care. Patient and Worker safety is a priority; as such, the successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to partner with all team members by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
