As a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will:

  • Create and/or populate actuarial models to price various group life products and revisions;
  • Maintain documentation of completed calculations/recommendations, and validate results against historical calculations or other benchmarks;
  • Complete peer review of work completed by other members of the team;
  • Provide support to the underwriting team for large/complex quotes;
  • Actively collaborate with a multidisciplinary product development team on initiatives related to group products;
  • Communicate with reinsurance partners regarding quotations and technical pricing models and evaluate reinsurance treaties;
  • Support the implementation and testing of new products or product changes in quotation tools and administrative systems;
  • Continue ongoing enhancements of our internal processes to support our efficiency initiatives.

What you need to succeed:

  • At least 5 years experience in an actuarial role focused on group life insurance;
  • ASA/ACIA designation and pursuing FSA/FCIA designation;
  • Outstanding knowledge of Excel;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) professional standards as they pertain to the life and disability business;
  • Well versed in insurance and statistical concepts and practices;
  • Enjoy working on process improvement & automation initiatives and have experience with building and maintaining business process models;
  • Exceptional analytical skills with high attention to details;
  • Experienced in documenting business process changes, and have a good understanding of the software development life cycle;
  • English is requirement, written and verbal, to provide services to our customers and communicate with internal stakeholders.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of group insurance products;
  • Knowledge of the AXIS actuarial software;
  • Reinsurance experience;
  • Working knowledge of advanced data warehouse reporting (using SQL): Ability to extract, interpret and explain data utilizing moderately complex SQL queries in a complex data environment;
  • Bilingualism (English and French).
