Position Summary:
EverWind Fuels is embarking on a Clean Energy Project that will create Nova Scotia's first green hydrogen production facility and unlock the potential of Nova Scotia's green economy. In addition to the Point Tupper Clean Energy Project, EverWind operates the Point Tupper Terminal which has 7.5 million barrels of storage capacity and specializes in storage, blending and transshipping of petroleum and petrochemical products.
Reporting to the General Manager of the Point Tupper Terminal, the Engineering Manager is responsible for the organization, planning, development, coordination and control of engineering projects and maintenance activities at the Terminal. Provides technical expertise for the development, design, and execution of capital and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner. Supervises contractors as needed for the execution of terminal projects.
Education Requirement:
• BSc in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering required
• Must be eligible for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer
• Relevant API and/or AMPP (NACE) certifications preferred
Experience Requirement:
• A minimum of 10 years engineering related experience in a petroleum industry required
• Knowledge of petroleum products, terminology and industry standards required
• Previous management experience required
• Previous oil spill response training an asset
Skills:
• Must have excellent verbal, written and communication skills
• Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point required
• Proficient in AutoCAD (or possibly other computer aided design software)
• Proficient with estimating, scheduling, and forecasting work activities
• Ability to research and interpret appropriate regulations, standards, and codes such as ASME, NFPA and API
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, planning and organization skills along with the ability to work independently
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to proof work for accuracy
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical evaluation skills

Major Accountabilities:
• Perform all functions safely when complying with Terminal and Provincial regulations, procedures and policies.
• Prepares and implements the budget, appropriations and project control processes for capital workload.
• Final review and approval of designs, budgets, project plans, schedules, resources, QA/QC procedures and project reports.
• Prepares RFQ's, selects contractors and evaluates performance of contractors and subordinate personnel and takes action as appropriate to ensure safety, quality and cost effectiveness, as related to the execution of projects.
• Manages the Engineering and maintenance departments to deliver safe, on budget, and on schedule projects.
• Maintain knowledge of project management processes.
• Oversees the process of selecting and evaluating engineering contractors / consultants.
• Negotiates required changes with contractors, justify budget changes and implement continuous improvement program for project management.
• Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
• Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods, and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions for planning and work coordination.
• Develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.
• Tracks cost and schedule performance of projects relative to budgets.
• Participates in oil spill response activities and act in an assigned capacity in an incident command structure.
• Performs other duties as required.
Work Environment:
The employee must be physically prepared to work in outdoor environments in all weather conditions. May be required on occasion to travel for business purposes. Must be able to wear PPE including fire retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, head protection, steel-toed shoes.
The employee may be required to:
• Stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Lift up to 50 lbs or drag and/or move up to 100 lbs.
• May climb tanks up to 100 ft or work on jetty above water (approx. 40 ft over water).
• Walk up to 2 miles at a time and be able to enter above ground storage tanks through man ways that are 24 inches or larger.
