Definition of work:
This service is fast paced and includes a patient population with high acuity in addition to a chronic stable population. Work involves providing nursing care and treatment services for the hemodialysis unit in the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre. Under the Central Health model of nursing care, the RN is required to provide comprehensive patient care that includes: pre-dialysis patient assessment, completing a plan of care, initiating treatment, monitoring and ongoing assessment during dialysis treatment, discontinuing treatment, post dialysis assessment, evaluation, and appropriate documentation. Significant critical thinking and problem solving abilities are required. On a continual basis throughout the workday, the successful incumbent will be responsible to critically assess patients and make appropriate decisions to ensure safe patient outcomes. The Incumbent will be accountable and responsible to function independently within the daily patient assignment in addition to participating as a collaborative interdisciplinary team member. As required, the successful candidate will float to other nursing units. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Current BLS certification for health care providers from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
• Consistent demonstration of NLHS corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence
• A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
• A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
