Demands, duties, qualifications

Definition of work:
The successful candidate will be responsible for Primary Health Care Nursing, Continuing Care Nursing, and emergency response for the citizens of Change Islands. These services are delivered in a variety of settings including the home, school, clinic and other community settings. Services include health promotion, illness prevention, supportive, curative, and rehabilitative care. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from an approved/recognized post-secondary Nursing Education program with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse with an approved Diploma in Community Health Nursing.
* Completion of a recognized nurse practitioner program (For nurse practitioner applicants only).
* Current registration as a nurse practitioner with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (For Nurse Practitioner applicants only).
* Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
* Must have completed or be willing to complete next available course of ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NRP.
* Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a variety of nursing disciplines for a variety of populations.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement community health nursing programs.
* Demonstrated experience working independently with limited supervision, as well as, in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated effective leadership, communication (oral and written), problem solving and organizational skills.
* A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 Driver's License and the use of a private vehicle are conditions of employment.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred qualifications:
* Experience in emergency and community-based nursing.
