Demands, duties, qualifications
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the nursing team to provide a high standard of care to the patients/residents of the White Bay Central Health Centre in Roddickton, NL. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards and practice in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice and reports to the Site Manager/Nurse in Charge.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalency;
- Graduation from an approved LPN Educational program;
- Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CLPNNL);
- Successful completion of Breastfeeding Essentials Course or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
- Knowledge of computer skills and an ability to work with Meditech is an asset;
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
- The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.
Duties: (Included but not limited to)
- Completes nursing assessment consistent with scope of practice;
- Participates in the development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans;
- Provides safe, competent, and ethical nursing care and makes decisions within the LPN scope of practice;
- Use the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient plan of care;
- Practices independently according to professional and organizational standards;
- Documents according to professional and organizational standards;
- Maintains competency and updates knowledge by availing of educational opportunities;
- Participates in quality assurance/improvement activities;
- Represents nursing on various committees such as Nursing Unit Council and other committees as deemed
- necessary;
- Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team;
- Keeps current with changes by monitoring communications (i.e. verbal, e-mail, communication book, etc.);
- Administers medication;
- Other related duties as required;
