Demands, duties, qualifications
The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the health care team under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse, providing a high standard of care to clients at the Labrador Health Centre and in accordance with the LGH Model of Nursing Clinical Practice. The employee is responsible for ensuring a safe environment for clients, families, co-workers, and themselves, and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalency;
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (CPR);
  • Successful completion of Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVIC) or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by the employer);
  • Successful completion of Mosby's Suite Suicide Assessment and Precautions or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by the employer);
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory Certificate of Conduct.

Duties:

  • Obtains reports on client's behaviour and plan of care, specifically relating to safety and security issues;
  • Observes and monitors the client's behaviour related to safety and security, and reports any changes or concerns ;
  • Maintains visual observation of the client at all times, ensuring the client is never left unattended ;
  • Responds to client's needs and requests in consultation with the assigned nurse ;
  • Documents according to organizational policies and unit guidelines ;
  • Maintains strict confidentiality on all matters related to the client ;
  • Other related duties as required.
