Description of work:
The Clinical Psychologist is a highly specialized clinical position that provides intensive therapeutic mental health and concurrent counselling to individuals and /or family members in a community setting. The Clinical Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological assessment and treatment to restore and /or enhance the psychological functioning of the client population. The Clinical Psychologist is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team. This position reports to the Regional Manager of Mental Health and Addictions Services. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Duties:
* Functions with a high level of autonomy while functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
* Carries out comprehensive psychological assessment, treatment, and follow up services in the context of an integrated mental health and addictions team process.
* Liaises with other professionals and community groups regarding referrals, treatment planning, follow up services and programming.
* Utilizes Best Practice Standards and methods in the areas of mental health and concurrent disorders.
* Implements individual, family and group interventions based on Best Practices
* Provides promotion and preventative services based on a population health approach.
* Carries out research designed to further clinical practice and service delivery
* Provides community crisis response in the region as deemed necessary.
Required qualifications:
* Graduate or doctorate Degree in Psychology from an accredited university.
* Registered, or eligible for registration, with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board
* Significant (2-5 years) and current (within the last 5 years) experience in a mental health and/or addictions setting.
* Proven ability to work with a high degree of independence while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.
* Experience working with individuals, families and groups.
* Demonstrated knowledge of program, services and community resources.
* Strong skills in interpersonal relationships, interdisciplinary team collaboration, leadership, communication, advocacy, networking, time management, case management and client support.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and considerable experience utilizing Best Practice Standards and methods in the areas of mental health and concurrent disorders including assessment, counselling, research, evaluation.
* A strong knowledge of psychological interventions and the DSM-5
* Effectively communicates verbally, in writing and using a range of technologies.
* Use of a private vehicle and valid driver's license are a condition of employment.
* Consistent demonstration of NLHS corporate values; Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence (ICARE).
* Satisfactory Child, Youth and Family Services Records Check.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
* PhD in Clinical Psychology.
