The opportunity
We are seeking a Manager, Data Analytics, Solution Architect. Our IT Advisory Analytics practice works collaboratively with our clients to enhance their ability to use and interpret data, and develop their own enhanced information management capabilities to support better decision making, along with regulatory compliance within their business. Our clients need the vision to articulate the big picture and the precision to see the smallest of details.
Information and intelligence are the assets which enable this, and our Analytics practice provides innovative approaches to unlocking this information, solving many of our clients' biggest challenges. We are working to integrate this capability into all Advisory service offerings and assists clients to leverage data as an asset throughout its business processes.
Your Key Responsibilities
As a Manager, Data Analytics, Solution Architect at EY, you will apply your expertise to lead key projects, cultivate meaningful relationships both within EY and with clients, and develop your capabilities through formal training and mentorship from senior colleagues across various functions. With a minimum of 7 years of experience, the Solution Architect will be responsible for leading the design and execution of data architectures and solutions that align with business needs and support organizational goals across industries. You will play a pivotal role in defining data strategies, developing scalable data architectures, and implementing innovative solutions to address complex business challenges. This role involves close collaboration with clients, project teams, and technical experts to deliver data solutions that drive substantial business value.
Skills and attributes for success
- Lead and oversee data architecture projects, from initial discovery and design to implementation and optimization, ensuring alignment with client objectives and best practices
- Collaborate with clients to understand business requirements, data challenges, and technical constraints, and develop cloud-based data strategies and roadmaps to address client needs
- Architect, design, and implement scalable and performant data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, and data pipelines
- Develop and document data architecture designs, data models, and integration patterns, ensuring alignment with industry standards, security requirements, and regulatory compliance
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including dimensional modeling (star schema, snowflake schema), Data Vault 2.0 modeling, and graph data modeling, to represent business entities, relationships, and processes
- Lead and mentor onshore and offshore project teams, including data architects, data engineers, and developers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and support to ensure successful project delivery
- Conduct performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting of data environments, identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks, data loading issues, and query optimization opportunities
- Collaborate with vendor account teams, technical support, and product management to stay updated on new features, enhancements, and best practices, and provide feedback and recommendations to clients
- Manage client relationships, expectations, and escalations, ensuring timely delivery, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data management
To qualify for the role you must have
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Minimum 7 years experience in data architecture, data engineering, and database design, preferably in a consulting or professional services environment
- Minimum 3 years' experience in designing and implementing Snowflake architecture, features, and capabilities, including Snowflake's multi-cluster architecture, data sharing, semi-structured data support, and security features
- Working knowledge and demonstrated experience designing data models with a focus on Data Vault 2.0 methodology as well as working knowledge of different approaches such as dimensional (Star, Snowflake)
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, cloud-native architectures, and best practices for deploying and managing data solutions on cloud platforms
- Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and familiarity with data services
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively lead project teams, collaborate with clients, and influence decision-making at executive levels.
- Technical Skills/Certifications: - SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced Architect (considered an asset) / - Data Vault 2.0 (considered an asset)
- Proven track record of delivering complex data architecture projects on time and within budget, managing client relationships, and driving business outcomes.
- Bilingualism (English and French) would be considered an asset
Ideally, you'll also have
- Enterprise data modeling experience across a variety of industry verticals
- Experience with data warehousing tools such as WhereScape, Coalesce, VaultSpeed
- Specific expertise in Snowflake data warehouse platforms
- Experience with Data Vault 2.0 data warehousing methodologies
- A high level of motivation, strong work ethic and self-starting attitude.

The salary range for this job in British Columbia is $104,000 to $150,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and work location city.
