PURPOSE:

The Manager, Business & Strategic Initiatives contributes to the overall success of ScotiaMcLeod in ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
In this role you will:

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manage projects and initiatives as assigned that require direct interaction with key stakeholders
  • Manage and coordinate project phases from execution of project plans to project closeout.
  • Secure appropriate resources and support to ensure initiatives are completed correctly, on time and on budget.
  • Ensure internal and external escalation procedures are followed in a timely manner for prompt resolution on projects.
  • Proactively identify and support implementation of initiatives and process, that contribute to efficient and effective operation of the business.
  • Maintain an active list of initiatives, identify responsible stakeholders, and timelines to implement.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and process efficiencies to create overall effectiveness while consulting with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles
  • Champion a high performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.


DO YOU HAVE THE SKILLS
We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration
  • Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset
  • 3+ years of experience in project management in the wealth management, banking or financial services industry, is an asset
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills combined with outstanding business acumen and attention to detail
  • Strong organization and project management skills, with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging, and dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal for interacting with stakeholders with varying cross cultural and language differences
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with other teams and senior executives
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners, and external vendors
  • Leadership skills in Building Strategic Relationships and Customer Focus
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
