Partnered with Meridia, Master Packaging is currently seeking an experienced and driven Plant Manager to lead the team in their Borden-Carleton, PEI location.
Role Description
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Manufacturing, the Plant Manager is responsible for the overall management and supervision of production, maintenance, shipping, and scheduling to ensure day-to-day operations are compliant with company standards. You will be key in driving productivity, ensuring safety, and optimizing operational efficiency, all while fostering a positive work culture. This role is perfect for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations including production, maintenance, scheduling, and shipping.
- Lead a team of direct reports and ensure smooth collaboration across departments.
- Establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality standards.
- Manage the plant's budget, focusing on cost control and efficiency, including staffing, materials, and equipment maintenance.
- Leading and participating in continuous improvement efforts to regularly identify and address production improvement and waste reduction activities.
- Collaborate with senior management and HR on policies, workforce training, and development to ensure staff motivation and satisfaction.
- Facilitate monthly crew meetings to review performance, project updates, and address any operational challenges.
- Engage with local colleges and the community to promote career opportunities and enhance the plant's workforce.
- Availability to be on-call for plant issues that may arise outside regular business hours, with flexibility on daily start times.
Your Qualifications
As the preferred candidate, you bring an educational background in engineering or extensive experience in plant operations gained in industrial settings, such as manufacturing facilities. You excel in a team environment and exhibit strong leadership qualities that allow you to motivate employees through your energetic and outgoing personality. Additionally, you have excellent problem-solving, organizational and time-management skills.
Your Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing industry.
- Previous experience with packaging or folding carton is an asset.
- A Bachelor's Degree in an applicable Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Chemical) or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Strong technical understanding of equipment, production lines, and safety metrics.
- Proven track record in leading continuous improvement initiatives and managing inventory in a just-in-time manufacturing setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly connect with a diverse team.
- Familiarity with Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Ability to analyze operational data and implement effective solutions.

The successful candidate will enjoy a comprehensive compensation package including a base salary of $125,000 - $200,000 CAD per year (depending on experience), health and dental benefits, and RRSP contributions.
