As a leading grocery retailer, Empire plays a far-reaching role within and across 900 communities in Canada. We aspire to building and nurturing meaningful and sustainable relationships with Indigenous Nations, Communities and Peoples and committing to organization-wide Reconciliation efforts.

Here's where you'll be focusing:

  • Working with our Indigenous Relations leader, you will provide support and/ or will be responsible for planning and executing of initiatives that contribute to achieving the organizational-wide Indigenous Relations program
  • Manage the Indigenous relations governance for our company's Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations (PAIR) internal working groups including the project management for key programs to advance PAIR certification
  • Partner with the business and talent acquisition, talent management and other key partners to drive innovation through developing programs, interventions and initiatives to increase First Nations, Inuit and Métis composition
  • Support and provide input into planning events for Indigenous awareness
  • Network internally and develop relationships externally related to the advancement of Indigenous Relations
  • Propose programming ideas in concert with the Indigenous PAIR working group and key collaborators to expand initiatives to advance awareness to action Indigenous Relations
  • Promote visibility of Indigenous Relations initiatives internally and externally
  • Support in the development of materials for Indigenous Relations including training presentations
  • Write communication materials related to Indigenous initiatives
  • Identify internal and external opportunities and partnerships

Key cross-functional accountabilities with other lines of business

  • Collaborates across Talent Acquisition, Talent Development and HR and Business Partners to integrate Indigenous Relations and to develop solutions that align with business priorities and needs.
  • Collaborates with the business and community to develop programs, initiatives and tools to support the organization's Indigenous Relations programs

What you have to offer:

  • Post secondary diploma or degree and 5 years of related experience
  • Good general understanding of Indigenous Communities' realities
  • Strong, engaging communication skills (written and verbal)
  • High degree of cultural competence as it relates to working with Indigenous communities
  • Proven ability to foster partnerships, establish and maintain strong working relationships
  • Experience with program development and strong project management skills
  • A willingness to bring your full self to work
  • You want to make a meaningful and positive impact in a pivotal role with a leading organization dedicated to walking in the path of reconciliation in a good way

To represent the community impacted by this work, preference will be provided to Indigenous candidates.

The salary range for this position inBritish Columbia is $67,000.00 - $96,000.00 . We will consider factors such as your working location, work experience and skills as well as internal equity, and market conditions to ensure that you are paid fairly and competitively.
