Salary range: $107,736.77 to $126,749.14 annually

Responsabilités

Working in a team environment and reporting to the Director of Applied Research, you will:

  • Develop applied research and innovation capacity at NSCC by carrying out applied research in partnership with business and industry in the private and public sectors. Research outcomes are aimed at project-based teaching, community betterment as well as commercializing technologies that result from applied research projects generated by the College.
  • Work closely with various stakeholders including other College campuses, schools and departments; industry; provincial and federal governments; educational institutions; and communities.
  • Identify cross-disciplinary applied research projects with business, industry and communities, teaching students, and collaborating with faculty with relevant expertise to develop and deliver applied research projects.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a master degree in a discipline related to the position. For example: in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Informatics, or a related discipline, with a background and understanding of Data Science, Human-Technology Interaction, and familiarity with real-world applications of mobile technology, IoT, sensors, automation, machine-learning and other 4th Industrial Revolution concepts.
  • You have a minimum of 7 years (full-time equivalent) of recent and direct occupational experience in research related to the subject matter of the position. Your occupational experience includes specific experience in research grants as well as supervising, managing or leading people.
  • Occupational experience that includes partnering with industry, government, funding agencies, and other post-secondary institutions would be beneficial.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-maill and software related to data-analytics, machine-learning, automation, cybersecurity.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience working independently in a research environment.

  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to research data management, machine learning, and data analytics.)
  • You have strong project management skills and are comfortable independently managing a portfolio of research projects.
  • You have demonstrated strength in supervising, managing and leading a research team.
  • You demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in research and research partnerships.
