Senior Manager/Manager - Finance

Hydro has openings for Management positions with our Finance team. Our Finance team is a critical part of our organization's success, leading key responsibilities such as:

  • Leadership on financial aspects of strategies that support Hydro's strategic plans;
  • Oversight and direction to a group that provides complex financial and economic impact analysis for financial planning and forecasting, financing, commercial assessments and arrangements, capital project and other investments, and regulatory and financial reporting purposes;
  • Preparation of materials and presentations to enable decision making on matters of financial importance to Hydro;
  • Management of all tax compliance, reporting and planning matters for Hydro. . Hydro is a crown corporation and as such, tax matters are focused on indirect tax matters (GST/HST/QST, excise, carbon/fuel etc.) and non-resident withholding, with limited requirements for income tax matters;
  • Leadership to many parts of Hydro's business in the collection, assessment and analysis of information required to support financial planning and tax;
  • Management of the financial reporting and accounting processes, ensuring the integrity of financial information for timely reporting to the Leadership Team, the Boards of Directors, the Regulator and other external stakeholders;
  • Management of financial reporting and audit processes for a line of business to facilitate the preparation of financial statements, note disclosures and other related deliverables;
  • Budget and forecasting processes and technical accounting assessments;
  • Leadership to finance teams;
  • Oversight of key accounting deliverables provided by finance shared service groups.

What we're looking for:

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving ability;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex financial information into general terms;
  • A high degree of personal initiative and judgment is required for organizing and controlling work activity and handling decisions without specific direction;

Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, Finance or equivalent supplement with either a CPA, CFA or MBA program with a specialization in Finance, or equivalent experience;
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting leadership, financial planning, finance, financial analysis and evaluation of utility or infrastructure projects, and/or taxation;
  • Proven ability to manage teams and foster team development;
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and reviewing financial analysis, forecasts and plans for complex operations;
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS;
  • Experience administering and advising on taxation matters; with completion of either CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program or CPA Canada's In-depth GST/HST Program being considered an asset;
  • General knowledge of rate regulation and or experience working with a utility would be an asset.
