Job Description

The Senior Manager and Team Lead, Business Insight Specialist within TDS Stress Testing will have the responsibilities of leading a team of business insight specialists in the execution of stress testing models to forecast Pre-Provision Net Revenue (PPNR) for the TD Securities (TDS) or the wholesale banking segment, including the Global Markets and Corporate & Investment Banking. The financial models are primarily used for stress testing purposes to support the Bank's capital planning and to meet regulatory requirements. Stress testing model development and usage are governed by TD's standards, policies, and procedures.

Stress testing is a critical component of the Bank's risk management practices, which informs and enhances its ability to manage stress conditions and assess its capital adequacy level. It evidences TD's ability to withstand significant market stress by continuing to provide banking services to customers. TDS participate in Enterprise-wise Stress Testing (EWST), Dodd-Frank Act Stress Tests (DFAST), Macro Stress Testing (MST) and other enterprise or region-specific programs.

This role is critical to the achievement of Target State for TDS stress testing. The successful candidate should have general statistical knowledge, technical skills and understanding of wholesale banking businesses; and has a innate ability for story telling with insight. You will be working with a variety of partners and stakeholders across the Bank, including the line of business (LOB), finance, risk, TD Economics and governance.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop a team of BI specialists to deliver results under the various stress testing programs or ad hoc analysis required to support the Bank's capital and resource planning.
  • Develop and deepen the knowledge of wholesale businesses, stress testing models, processes, governances, and controls to provide guidance and challenge to the team.
  • Develop and maintain the assumptions model and the aggregation processes, including implementation in applicable platforms.
  • Responsible for delivering stress testing execution in applicable platforms, in line with established playbook and consistent with the scope of programs.
  • Challenge and review the stress testing model results to ensure reasonability, intuition and well-communicated messages to LOB (Line of Business) and other governance bodies.
  • Responsible for results aggregation and understanding of wholesale banking performance under various economic conditions and lead the delivery of value-add analysis to the businesses and senior management under stress testing.
  • Develop and maintain a strong control environment for execution, including robust documentation on processes.
  • Support and lead the team on any compliance activities under the Bank's various governance programs, including on data and EUC (End-user Computing).
  • Continuously seek improvements and expand on automation opportunities; develop the team to upskill and future-proof TDS stress testing processes.
  • Support the team in their career development and foster a strong and collaborative team culture for high achievements.
  • Develop and foster a strong and supportive relationship with stakeholders, including various lines of defense, LOBs, program teams, risks, finance, treasury.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • Proven experience in building and leading a team.
  • Demonstrated skills in communicating complex issues and financial analysis to a diverse audience.
  • Must be proficient with quantitative analysis tools and concepts.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, multiple tasks and adapt well to changing priorities.
  • Must be curious and analytical to understand new concept quickly.
  • Working knowledge of SAS and / or Python.
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience in supporting wholesale businesses and knowledge of wholesale products and processes.
  • Strong accounting or finance background, with the ability to read, understand, and interpret balance sheets and income statement.
  • Knowledge of wholesale stress testing processes an asset.
  • Strong proven ability to work in a team, provide training, fostering a positive and rewarding work environment.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
