211 Nova Scotia is seeking a Community Resource Navigator.

As a navigator you will respond to inquiries from residents of Nova Scotia and PEI by phone, email, text and online chat. Navigators conduct assessments to determine human service needs through active listening and effective questioning; provide information on and make referrals to government, social and community programs and services; and offer crisis support and intervention, as necessary. Navigators must present a professional image and exercise sound judgement and compassion in a manner that respects the mission, vision, and values of 211.

Navigator shifts are 8 hours and take place between the hours of 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time position based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.Our compensation plan includes competitive remuneration plus group health benefits.

As our ideal candidate:

  • You possess a bachelor's degree in social sciences or human services, or a related degree, coupled with a minimum of three years relevant experience (or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).
  • You've demonstrated a desire and ability to help those in need, either through work or volunteer experience, while using an empathetic, non-judgmental and trauma informed approach.
  • Your core strengths include attention to detail with well-developed communication and decision-making skills.
  • You have a proven ability to multi-task. At 211, this involves making accurate assessments from sensitive information, performing online searches, and entering information into a database while having a conversation and connecting with the caller.
  • You are known to be flexible and willing to stretch into new skill areas and work opportunities.
  • You can commit to a paid 5-week training program on site in Dartmouth.
