Position Summary

Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Infrastructure Services team is responsible for providing stable, performing computing services to the organization. The successful candidate for the position of Systems Administrator will be accountable for the installation and maintenance of the Medavie Inc. server and storage infrastructure.

This opportunity is a Monday to Friday daytime business hours role and requires to be on-site several days per week (Hybrid) in our Moncton, NB Main Street office location. It also requires to participate in a rotating on call schedule with the ability to be available within the required service level.

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate for the position of System Administrator, you will be accountable for the following:

  • Install various hardware, create virtual servers, configure, and manage physical and virtual hosts, and/or upgrade servers, including the operating system; follow established procedures for installations.
  • Administer and support core Microsoft, Cisco, and VMware technologies.
  • Respond to service requests within the required service levels; interact with customers; answer questions; respond to special requests; provide technical support as required; communicate with 3rd party vendors.
  • Participate in a rotating on call schedule with the ability to be available within the required service level.
  • Support new solution deployments, testing, troubleshooting, and help with issue resolution.
  • Apply firmware and patches to servers; maintain supportability by upgrading server operating systems following established procedures.
  • Monitor systems performance, capacity, usage, health, and security; use tuning products to recommend/implement changes to improve performance.
  • Understand the concepts of designs and the importance of having a design.
  • Act as security administrator for systems following established procedures.
  • Follow and provide updates to existing documentation.

Required Qualifications:

Education:Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience: A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of server support experience is preferred.
Technical Skills:Have experience working with the following: Microsoft Windows Servers, Azure, Exchange Online, and VMWare. Demonstrate working knowledge of the following protocols and concepts: IPv4, DHCP, DNS, FTP, Active Directory, Azure AD, File Systems permissions, virtualization, and Storage Area Networks (SAN).

Other Qualifications:

Language Skills: Previous experience or familiarity with storage and networking concepts. Be familiar with the concepts and practices for: secure systems, high availability, capacity, backup, archiving and disaster recovery. Experience or knowledge with scripting will be considered an asset.

Language: English (Spoken and Written) required. French (Spoken and Written) considered an asset

Knowledge:Basic understanding of server management, back-up, recovery, and disaster recovery principles. Technical knowledge of: Microsoft Windows Server, Power Shell, and automation technologies.

Execution and Organizational Skills:Well organized; able to contribute to creative and sound solutions in a diverse and fast-paced environment; able to multi-task when required; conscientious in following established process and procedures. Comfortable with providing recommendations to improve them.
Teamwork:Strong interpersonal skills; positive attitude; able to work in a group or independently; able to work effectively with minimal / limited supervision or assistance.
