Department Overview:

Data governance and management at TD is part of an enterprise-wide data and analytics ecosystem. Adaptability is key. You may be part of the data and analytics professional community managing data assets aligned to TD's overarching policies or strategies, or you may find yourself directly immersed in various lines of business. Job Description:

Are you an experienced data steward and data analysis expert? If so, this role offers a hands-on opportunity to execute online of business data strategy, working in alignment with Bank-wide data standards and policy. This is an expert professional role requiring in-depth knowledge in your field of specialty and working knowledge of broader related areas. You may be appointed Data Steward for your line of business.

As a Data Steward I, you will:

  • Provide guidance, review and challenge of LOB execution of data risk requirements
  • Monitor compliance to Enterprise Data Risk Policies & Standards and identify and escalate Data Risks and Issues to leadership and business stakeholders
  • Provide specialized data governance / management advice and support to teams, management, leadership.
  • Guide the business to identify and monitor the quality of critical data elements.
  • Guide the business to complete metadata and design and implement effective data quality controls (for data at capture, in movement, or at rest)
  • Review Data requirements in projects / change initiatives to confirm coverage and appropriateness and oversee implementation of data requirements
  • Assess LOB data management design and execution for completion and accuracy
  • Guide, review and challenge LOB on data retention/deletion design and operational effectiveness for coverage and appropriateness
  • Monitor resolution progress and aging of data issues within enterprise data issue platforms
  • Conduct 1b testing to validate LOB ongoing compliance to standard requirements
  • Support LOBs in Data Risk related Audit/Regulatory Exams.
  • Understand data risk trends, identify issues and opportunities, and recommend action to management.
  • Manage data work activities requiring coordination across multiple areas.
  • Protect the interests of the organization; identify and manage risks, raising issues as necessary.
  • Lead, motivate and build positive working relationships with internal and external partners; continually improve professional expertise, knowledge transfer and be a brand ambassador for data stewardship and your LOB.

Job Requirements:

What can you bring to TD? Share your most relevant experience, credentials, and knowledge for this role, as well as these essential requirements and attributes:

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate in computer science, data management, risk management or other related field
  • Five (5) or more years relevant experience
  • Must have analytical skills and possess a critical faculty and an ability to synthesize information (written and oral).
  • Skill in using software tools, applications, data analysis methods.
  • Ability to work multi-functionally, communicate positively and professionally in both spoken and written form, provide assistance or guidance to other team members and build positive relationships across teams and functions.
  • Interest and curiosity to learn data management and governance best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills must be comfortable to lead meetings and present to stakeholders.
  • A strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in data risk/governance (i.e. data lifecycle management, critical data elements, metadata, data quality, data movement control etc.)
  • Experience working with audit/regulators, internal risk control partners and risk owners
