Purpose

The Trainee will provide direct support to the SVP, Compliance & AML Governance, Ethics & Data, Global Compliance Management and to the broader team while gaining the necessary skills for their professional development. The incumbent will have the opportunity to rotate through the Privacy, Data/Analytics & Technology, Governance, and Strategy team which will allow them to obtain the fundamental knowledge and skills required to launch a career at Scotiabank.
From analyzing and assessing business processes to solving complex problems, you'll be building strong relationships and developing professional skills that will help set you up for success.

Accountabilities

The incumbent will have exposure and the opportunity to impact workstreams across our team including Privacy, Data/Analytics & Technology, Governance, and Strategy. Typical accountabilities would include:

  • Support the SVP in managing day-to-day priorities by arranging / scheduling appointments (calendar management). This includes anticipating scheduling conflicts / problems and providing alternatives.
  • Identify, manage, analyze, and interpret data to support the creation of meaningful and actionable insights to support the effectiveness of our regulatory risk program.
  • Develop creative problem-solving and analytical skills to drive decision-making & enhance business objectives.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials, and progress reports to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Support in the development and execution of team-wide events such as Town Halls.
  • Refine your communication and presentation skills with opportunities to present findings and recommendations to partners and senior management.
  • Engage in development opportunities to help boost skillset, building long-term leadership skills and a network of colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Work closely with senior management and / or collaborate with peers on high-level projects.
  • Develop tailored messaging, which may include writing, editing, and distributing communications department-wide.
  • Track completion of action items from meetings.
  • Record / input / document data to track, monitor and control expenses, including telephone bills / expense statements.

Education/Experience

  • University degree from an accredited university
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with the ability to adapt change
  • A growth mindset with the curiosity and capacity to learn quickly
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly spreadsheets and presentation tools
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills are required to manage multiple initiatives and related under tight deadlines
  • High level of discretion required when dealing with confidential matters
  • Good interpersonal relations
  • Flexibility
  • Fluency in English, Spanish would be seen as an asset
