Purpose
The Product Owner - US Deposit Products, Global Transaction Banking (GTB) is responsible for establishing the US Deposit Products on the new US DDA core banking platform, thereby contributing to the scalable and sustainable revenue growth, customer profitability, and increased market share of business deposits in the US.

GTB supports business clients in the small business, commercial, multi-national, FI and corporate segments, across our geographical footprint. What You'll Do:

  • Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Supports the Director – US Business Deposit Products, the Product Owner(s), Sales teams, partner teams and the leadership team by –
    • leading and managing the end-to-end implementation of the products and the related process framework for the US deposit products and related services
    • delivering on assigned and/or ad hoc mandates, key strategic initiatives and priorities
  • Product Vision and Roadmap
    • Develop a strategic vision and tactical roadmap for the implementation of the US deposit products in collaboration with all stakeholder teams
    • Ensure that the products and processes being established are duly benchmarked with competitor offerings and the overall US banking industry/market
    • Develop a deep understanding of customer and internal impacts, system dependencies and technological processes associated with the product suite
    • Effectively convey business requirements to all stakeholders to Develop the new products and their respective parameters, close existing product/process gaps and, build towards the intended target state while ensuring timely delivery of each release
    • Ensure all products are performing as expected and resolving issues that arise in a timely manner with updates to partners and escalations to management as required
  • Core Implementation
    • Ensure all implementation milestones are duly met, and any risks related to costs, resources, delivery timelines etc. are raised well in advance to the leadership
    • Gather input from all stakeholders to define functional and non-functional requirements for developing the deposit products
    • Define and execute customer journeys, user stories, acceptance criteria, test cases, etc. to build out the required products and processes on the new US core banking platform
    • Decompose larger requirements or journeys (epics) into features and user stories that can be understood and committed to by other members of the team (such as: developers, testers etc.)
    • Document and duly socialize any customizations, enhancements, configurations and gaps in the vendor offering, and develop action plans to ensure they are resolved
    • Review and approve development work before releasing into production
    • Work with the Technology team, System Integrator and the vendor to manage (and subsequently deliver) a backlog of clearly defined and prioritized features and capabilities
    • Collaborate with SMEs to develop implementation and change management plans
  • Relationship Management and Communication
    • Managing partner, business line, Technology, Sales and vendor relationships for the portfolio
    • Collaborate with the other Product Managers on the team responsible for Go-To-Market (GTM), Commercialization, Migration, existing products etc. to ensure that the new products and related processes being established are aligned with their vision, as well as the expected requirements
    • Partner with GTB Product Managers, other partners and stakeholders to deliver the foundational capabilities and features on the new US core banking platform
    • Collaborating with Product, Technology, Sales, Pricing, AML, Risk and Compliance teams to articulate the product vision, including the customer impacts, business/stakeholder value, etc.
    • Understanding voice of the customer, front-line and bank-end staff to enhance offering
    • Providing subject matter expertise and thought leadership to partners and leadership, as required
  • Understand how the bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Builds a high-performance environment by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team
  • Adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.


What You'll Bring:

  • Master's degree in business/commerce or relevant industry and functional experience
  • 7+ years of business banking in product management or Product Owner roles
  • Experience in leading and owning implementation of banking products from a business perspective is essential
  • Thorough knowledge of the Business Financial Services marketplace and solid understanding of deposit products/services, associated banking applications and processes.
  • Knowledge of US-domiciled business deposit products is an asset
  • Ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, challenging and dynamic business environment. Proven track record of delivering innovative solutions from concept to change management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Experience developing strong presentations, strategic plans and business cases.
  • Strong problem solver with ability to influence and inspire a cross-functional team to reach ambitious goals.
  • Enthusiastic, detailed, self-motivated, inclusive and results oriented.
  • Highly developed relationship management skills to effectively manage relationships across the Bank, partners and external vendors.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank's policies and procedures and their relationships within the Bank
  • In-depth knowledge of outside market and competitive products


Work Arrangement:

  • Located at our Toronto office(s)
  • Hybrid work environment with the expectation to be in office 3-4 times a week or as needed
  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence
  • Limited travel domestically.
