In this role, you will :
- Leads the recruitment of Canadian Red Cross digital volunteers. Ensuring sufficient volunteer capacity to support the Digital Communications team through regular recruitment periods.
- Works closely with the Volunteer Resources team and following the standard processes as it relates to onboarding, engagement, and recognition processes for Canadian Red Cross volunteers.
- Engages with and supports current roster of digital volunteers by creating reference materials, training, scheduling, and providing ongoing guidance and feedback.
- Works closely with the Senior Manager, Social Media, to engage content creators to promote Canadian Red Cross campaigns, programs and activities to new and emerging audiences.
- Manages the digital volunteer team in providing support across Canadian Red Cross social media accounts, including engaging with supporters, responding to questions, identifying reputational issues, and creating content including but not limited to photos, videos and blog posts.
- Develops training and tools for social media and provides learning workshops for staff and volunteers.
- Supports the Senior Manager, Social Media, in creating compelling and strategic content for all social media channels including but not limited to writing social media posts and creating engaging visuals including photos, graphics and videos tailored to the audiences and to the relevant social media platforms.
- Manages workflow for content created by digital volunteers, including content brief, feedback, timelines and approvals.
- Consults with program teams and works collaboratively with members of the communications team as needed to gather information to support content creation.
- Participates in editorial planning and scheduling of content.
- Conducts interviews with staff, volunteers, people impacted by disasters, people who access Red Cross programs and services, and other stakeholders to develop engaging stories about our work and mission.
- Uses tools such as Canva, Trello, social media management tools and platforms, photo and video editing applications and native social media apps.
- Manages translation cycle for social media content.
- Oversees project management for social media elements of campaigns and events, as required.
- Participates in the day-to-day management of social media channels, including responding to inquiries, moderating comments, and engaging with supporters.
- Contributes to regular reporting, measurement and analysis of social media trends and activities relevant to the work of the Canadian Red Cross.
- Maintains an understanding of the latest social media trends, audiences, best practices and analytics.
- Supports the execution and implementation of digital communications strategies for emergency response and recovery operations.
- Provides regular, scheduled on-call coverage for social media on weekends throughout the year.
What we are looking for :
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing or related field.
- Requires a minimum of three to five years of experience in communications and client relations in the area(s) of Public Relations/Communications or Marketing/Advertising.
- Experience producing visual content in addition to written content, such as video editing, photography and graphic design for digital platforms.
- Demonstrated active involvement in managing social media brand accounts, including posting content, moderating comments and responding to direct messages, and engaging with people online.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple issues simultaneously in a complex environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
