Through a new, innovative partnership with Nova Scotia Health (NSH), we are opening the first transitional care center in our province, in West Bedford. Shannex is the operating partner for the transitional care centre on behalf of Nova Scotia Health. you will have an opportunity to work in a facility with a purpose and design dedicated to providing care to NSH patients in central zone, who no longer require hospital care, but need services before they can safely return home/community.
We are searching for a Housekeeper to join our Transitional Care Centre team based in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
A Housekeeper in the Transitional Care Centre performs housekeeping, laundry and basic maintenance functions in all areas of the facility.

About the Opportunity
- Sweeps, dusts, and wet mops floors.
- Dusts, cleans, and polishes furniture, counters, shelving, walls, window/door ledges and casings as described in the job routine.
- Cleans sinks, toilets and bath facilities using prescribed cleaning solutions.
- Ensures garbage and recycling are disposed of in proper location, garbage in garbage, cardboard with cardboard, etc.
- Buffs and auto scrubs floors using floor machines and cleaning solutions in accordance with established procedures.
- Fills and replenishes supplies in patient rooms, nursing units, and rest rooms as required.
- Empties and cleans trash receptacles and places trash in compactor and/or trash pick-up area.
- Assembles, moves, delivers, sets up and picks up furniture, supplies and equipment as required and in accordance with prescribed work schedules.
- Promotes a safety culture by continuously working safely including but not limited to identifying and reporting hazards, following safe work practices and procedures, wearing personal protective equipment, supporting others to work safely, and completing safety education.
- Ensures patient safety by following and applying all standard operational procedures, safe work practices and training provided.
About You
- 1 year of environmental services experience
- High School diploma or equivalent education
- Previous experience working in housekeeping and/or laundry and working in a long-term care environment
- Demonstrated experience working and communicating with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner
- High level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments efficiently; Ability to work well with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated responsible behavior and attention to detail
- Responds appropriately to supervision. Follows policies and cooperates with supervisors.?
- Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively. Listens to others and responds appropriately
- Asset: First Aid and CPR certification
