RESEARCH ASSISTANT II (BAND LEVEL 7) Division of Population Health and Applied Health Sciences Faculty of Medicine

One Year Contractual Position

(Part-time; casual hours)

This position is funded through an external grant

The Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA) is a national study of adult development and aging that will recruit 50,000 individuals across Canada. Information will be collected from participants through telephone interviews, in person interviews, and physical assessments.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Study Coordinator and Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant II will assist the Memorial University CLSA research team. Duties include scheduling interviews with pre-selected participants for the study; obtaining participant consent; receiving participants into the data collection site; performing neurophysiological tests; performing vision and hearing assessments; performing tests to assess mobility, balance, and hand strength; measuring participants weight, height, blood pressure, carotid intima thickness, lung function, and ECG (training provided); entering data using Beartooth, Onyx and Pine Software; performing regular calibration and quality control of equipment; and performing other related duties as required. Some evening and weekend work is possible.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience (1-3 years) in health-related research; completion of most coursework towards a Master's degree in a related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.The ideal candidate must possess strong time management, strong written and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to multitask while efficiently determining priorities. Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, and experience with interviewing are assets.

SALARY $32.91 - $38.61 hourly (Non-Bargaining) "
