We are searching for a Full Time Cook 1 to join The Glenerin Inn Hotel and Spa team based in Mississauga, Ontario. Breakfast and lunch experience preferred. We welcome and celebrate Great People.

About the Opportunity

• Reporting to the Chef you plan and prepare meals according to menus and recipes; prepare special meals to meet appropriate modifications according to established guidelines;
• Ensure meals are attractive, the correct temperature and portion size, and that service is timely;
• Reports any recipe shortages, discrepancies or quality issues to the Chef or Supervisor in a timely manner;
• Clean and sanitize cooking station daily; maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment such as ovens, kettles, mixers, and others in order to maintain safety and sanitation in the kitchen to meet legislative and organizational standards; responsible for the clear and correct labeling of excess food;
• Check and record food temperatures daily on a rotational basis for mealtimes as per Health Promotion Act;
• Follows disposal procedures according to established waste management guidelines for organics, paper, plastics, cans/bottles, non-recyclable material, etc;
• Assists in other areas of the kitchen as required

About You

• Place a high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability,
• Possess a high-school diploma or a GED.
• A valid Food Handler's certificate
• 2 years experience with cooking. You can read & follow detailed recipes/instructions as required and communicate in an efficient manner in a team-oriented setting. You must also be able to provide a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Previous cooking experience (2 years experience preferred) in a commercial kitchen (banquets and/or restaurant)
• Preference to Red Seal certificate holders
• Team spirit working alongside other kitchen cooks and stewards
