Responsabilités

What you'll be doing

As the Academic Chair for the School of Trades and Transportation, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of NSCC programs at Ivany Campus ensuring the highest standard of quality and consistency in programing while supporting student success.
  • With your strategic and operational leadership, ensure the objectives of programs offered by NSCC are met through efficient and effective management of all fiscal and human resources, while endorsing the application of adult education principles and portfolio learning, within a safe work environment, and portfolio learning in a learning-centered college.
  • Bring innovative and creative approaches that maximize NSCC assets to increase training opportunities through multiple program delivery modes during the full calendar year for the School of Trades and Transportation at Ivany Campus.
  • Be a key member of both Campus and School teams. Campuses and Schools share accountability for ensuring a quality-learning environment and a cohesive campus team.
  • Along with your School and Campus teams you will lead in building and nurturing a campus culture of innovation, equity and safety for students and employees.
  • Use your established relationships in related sectors regionally and locally to inform programming and opportunities for students.
Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is either a red seal designation or an undergraduate degree in a field related to the school. A Graduate Degree would be considered an asset.

  • You have a minimum of 7 years of recent and progressive occupational experience in a field related to the School of Trades and Transportation.

  • You have a minimum of five years in a formal supervisory, management or leadership role

  • Experience in your field includes formal teaching at a post-secondary level.

  • Occupational experience that includes community and industry engagement would be considered an asset.

  • You have experience leading or contributing to programs and/or initiatives that foster equity and inclusion.

  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.

  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.

  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.

Relevant Skills and Knowledge:

  • You demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and anti-racism.

  • You have experience managing operating budgets, forecasting and meeting target.

  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to interact at all levels of an organization.

  • You have specific technical occupational knowledge and skill in entrepreneurship and innovation.

  • You are a strong communicator.

  • You possess excellent coordination skills specifically related to coordinating logistics and scheduling on and off campus events.

  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities specifically related to scheduling and other operational requirements.

  • You have strong project management skills

  • You are innovative and able to work collaboratively across divisions to deliver customized training, continuing education and other learning-based projects.

  • You demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

  • You have demonstrated strength and experience in leading a team.

  • You are dedicated to life-long learning and have recent, relevant development opportunities.

  • You show a strong commitment to community involvement.
