Clerk I - Health Records
Temporary Full-Time
Location: St. Anthony, NL
(PCN 55120RP1)
The primary purpose of this position is to perform routine filing, and general clerical duties involved in the operation and control of the Health Records Department. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Team Leader of Health Records and report to the Manager and Regional Director of Health Information Management.

Qualifications:

" Graduation from High School or equivalent;
" Successful completion of a one-year Office Administration Program;
" Successful completion of an approved Medical Terminology course or willingness to obtain in a time frame to be determined by the employer;
" Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment;
" Ability to handle the physical demands of moving chart volumes and filing;
" Knowledge of the Meditech and electronic medical record systems would be an asset;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities (Include but not limited to):

" Familiarization of filings systems necessary to maintain and control prompt retrieval and accessibility of medical records;
" Retrieving and supplying records on request for OPD visits, other departments involved in patient care, as well as structured audits, research and education;
" Scanning patient documentation into the electronic medical record (EMR);
" Daily control and filing of reports/records related to diagnostic testing for OPD clinics, inpatients, etc.;
" Assisting with release of information;
" Assisting clients/staff when presenting to the main file room seeking information or making an inquiry;
" Completing daily statistics on the movement of patients from the Meditech System;
" Assembling, analyzing, and filing in-patient and surgical day care records;
" Verifying Birth/Death information;
" Repairing/updating patient charts and organizing death/inactive charts for storage;
" Updating/correcting patient demographics & records at the request of the provincial Client Registry;
" Organizing outgoing mail;
" Relieving for breaks on the switchboard as required;
" Performs other related duties as assigned.

Salary:

" CG-15 of the NAPE HS Salary Scales, $19.30 to $20.63 per hour.

Hours of Work:

" 75 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday.
