Title : Senior Manager, Grants Programs

Employee Working Location : Remote (Canada)

Employment status : Temporary Full-Time (7 Months)

Salary band : $ 77,000 - 96,000 / year

In this role, you will :

Responsibility 1 : Program Management, Design and Development

  • Responsible for engaging with Recovery Services teams, geographies, and other service lines to align on shared goals and the set up and delivery of new grant programs.
  • Under the direction of the Director, Granting or designate, supports the team in the design and development of program tools, the grant-management system, and program-related processes.
  • Accountable for the delivery of grant programs to ensure programs are implemented within timeframes, quality, and program parameters.
  • Provides ongoing feedback and reporting on new and existing grant programs to the Director, Granting.
  • Ensures that the implementation of the granting process is in accordance with the established system and requirements of the Eligible Costing Guidelines, CASA, Legal, and Risk Management.

Responsibility 2 : Planning, Monitoring, Reporting and Quality

  • Management of active grant programs and collection of data from the team as required, including financial projections, expenditures, and other reporting.
  • Prepares reports and presentations as requested regarding the Granting Service Line, tools, systems and practices.
  • Establishes the planning process for Granting Service Line including operational planning and quarterly updates.
  • Ensures compliance and quality assurance/continuous learning across all granting programs, and ensures that quality standards are incorporated into grant programs.
  • Works with the Granting team to collaborate on strategies to identify, manage and mitigate against organizational risk relating to grant programs and makes recommendations to the Director, Granting.

Responsibility 3 : People Management & Capacity Building

  • Responsible for continual team development, suggests areas of collaboration and growth.
  • Provides guidance, coaching and mentoring support to direct team, including additional learning.
  • Establishes career development plan and ongoing training to stay current on relevant changes to granting programs and framework.
  • Support implementation of all People Services policies and practices, ensuring opportunities are created for professional development, recognizing, and celebrating successes, and cultivating a culture of teamwork, collaboration and innovation across all levels and functions of the organization.

What we are looking for :

  • University degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years working in grant management, program management, community development, Human Services or Social Sciences.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years' experience leading and managing diverse teams in complex situations.
  • Strong experience in program design, development, and management.
  • Knowledge of legal frameworks and principles for granting in Canada.
  • Experience working with and presenting to community organizations, municipal government bodies and Indigenous organizations and governments.
  • Knowledge of program design and development, including proposal development.
  • Understanding of disaster response and recovery.
  • Strong PMER knowledge and experience.
  • Strong Results Based Management (RBM) knowledge experience.
  • Language - must be able to read, write and deliver services in English; French considered an asset.
  • Experience working in high pressure situations with attention to detail and short timelines.
  • Experience working in community assessment processes.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt priorities as required.
  • Strong people management skills (ability to mentor, motivate, support and lead teams)
  • Problem solving and decision making in conditions of uncertainty.
  • Ability to influence leaders and peers to gain support and overcome resistance with data and persuasion.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite, experience with grant management software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of SM Apply is an asset.
  • Familiarity working within virtual teams is an asset.

Working conditions :

  • The majority of the work is performed in an environment which is mostly clean and comfortable.
  • This position may require domestic travel to visit the field, attend training, conferences, workshops, access tools and meetings as required.
  • Ability to respond during non-traditional hours (e.g. late night or weekends) and long hours of work in a demanding context.
  • If driving for Society business; a valid driver's license is required with a satisfactory drivers' abstract.
