The IT team at Burchell Wickwire Bryson LLP is growing! BWB is currently recruiting for an IT Support Technician to join the firm on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a predominantly in-office role, based in BWB's new office space at 1801 Hollis Street in Halifax, NS.
The Opportunity:

An integral part of the firm's IT Team, the IT Support Technician will work closely with the IT Manager and Director of Operations to ensure BWB's lawyers and staff receive timely and professional assistance with an array of IT-related requests, while following any relevant firm guidelines.

In particular, the successful candidate's responsibilities will include:

  • Performing day-to-day requests for internal IT assistance (under the guidance of the IT Manager and Director of Operations), by way of supporting the functioning of all firm hardware and software. This includes computers/laptops, cell phones, internal phone system, meeting room equipment, photocopiers, fax machines, printers, postage equipment, and dictation hardware & software;
  • Working with the IT Manager to perform upgrades on all network equipment and running routine maintenance checks;
  • Maintaining hardware and installing software on devices;
  • Collaborating with the IT Manager to determine departmental priorities necessary to meet the overall business goals of the firm;
  • Assisting with firm technology training requirements and the supporting the implementation of a technology training program to ensure all firm members are comfortable using required systems;
  • Assisting with the onboarding of all new firm members by way of setting up computers and necessary peripheral devices at workstations, installing and configuring appropriate software, and providing orientation and guidance to firm members on how to properly use software and devices;
  • Staying up to date with all IT industry trends and developments, including emerging technologies;
  • Assisting the Director of Operations and the IT Manager in the execution, testing and maintenance of the firm's disaster recovery and business continuity plan; and,
  • Other related tasks and projects, as required.


The Ideal Candidate:

If you are a motivated and organized IT professional with strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail, who enjoys figuring out solutions to IT issues while providing top level client service, we want to hear from you!

Post-secondary education in information technology and/or equivalent experience working in a helpdesk environment or within an IT capacity in the professional services industry would be an asset.
