Position: Vice President, Performance & Culture / Talent Strategy / Global Human Resources

Purpose


Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight in shaping the enterprise culture, fostering employee engagement and driving strategic initiatives. Directly impacts the engagement, well-being, productivity and performance of Scotiabank's global workforce ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Accountabilities

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to define, develop, and execute a comprehensive talent strategy aligned with the bank's global vision. Synthesize culture, global inclusion, leadership, and learning strategies into one integrated vision for the future and deploy the strategy across the enterprise to build a foundation for positive employee experience and organizational success.
  • Develop performance management frameworks that align individual goals with organizational objectives. Implement data-driven approaches to measure and enhance human performance, and promote well-being, mental health, and work-life balance.
  • Develop listening mechanisms to collect and measure regular feedback including surveys, focus groups and townhalls. Analyze employee sentiment data to identify trends, address pain points, and drive positive culture change.
  • Champion a culture of innovation by incubating and scaling HR solutions and fostering a culture of adaptability and continuous learning. Stay at the forefront of industry trends related to the future of work and oversee initiatives using new ways of working (AI integration, human-centered design, and agile product delivery) in a lab setting.
  • Craft a compelling employer brand narrative that resonates with current and potential employees. Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to amplify our brand externally and leverage social media, events, and partnerships to showcase our inclusive workplace culture.
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Builds a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Human Resources Management or related discipline
  • 10+ years of HR experience with an emphasis on performance management and culture
  • Strong internal consulting skills with ability to champion and influence change to ensure leaders across the Bank own performance development and culture
  • Ability to create innovative solutions that create value for business and HR partners
  • Ability to think strategically and cultivate internal and external networks and relationships
  • Deep knowledge of performance management processes and how to drive the cultural and behavioral changes needed to enable a high performance work positive culture
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and results
