At the Home Depot Canada, we are committed to delivering a superior digital marketing program that is based on insights, the spirit of innovation and talented people. As a leader in the home improvement industry, we understand that digital media is crucial to growing our customer-base and nurturing existing customer relationships; as such, we are expanding the digital marketing team to prepare for tomorrow's retail challenges, today. We need more dreamers, innovators, and big thinkers passionate about marketing and the customer journey to help us re-imagine the future of retail.
The Orange Apron Media (OAM) program is the vendor sales arm of the digital marketing team, connecting our vendor community with data-driven digital media solutions to reach in-market DIY customers and Pros. The ideal candidate is looking to tackle new challenges and build business acumen through the development and productization of innovative offerings. This role will allow you to carve your own path while delivering a superior program that is based on insights, innovation, transparency, and trust.
Position Overview:
As an Orange Apron Media (OAM) Sales Specialist, your primary responsibility is to lead the sales process by understanding the needs of our vendors and producing sales material to support in collaboration with the marketing and planning teams. Our program offers managed and self-service solutions, and it's crucial to tailor our advertising capabilities to align with each vendor's objectives. You will need to know when to pivot and support the best decision for each vendor, ensuring optimal outcomes.
This role is external facing, requiring you to lead consultative sales conversations and employ a solutions-based selling approach. Orange Apron Media (OAM) programs are vendor-first initiatives, opposed to corporate media campaigns. Your vision for any campaign must include the benefits and features of each recommended idea; starting with a thorough understanding of vendor needs and working closely with internal teams to pitch, close, report, and cultivate relationships.
The ideal candidate will excel in building and fostering collaborative relationships. In addition to direct sales responsibilities, you will also create and distribute essential marketing collateral for the OAM team, including webinars, general pitch decks, and event presentations.
Position Responsibilities

  • Selling and presenting Orange Apron Media (OAM) offering to our vendor community
  • Applying a consultative sales approach, including asking RFP-related questions to our vendors
  • Thorough understanding of digital media: primarily the enterprise (programmatic) and Paid Social landscapes, and know when to use each within stages of the funnel
  • Productizing new opportunities and evolving the program with new sales tactics and opportunities
  • Develop and own the sales funnel, hitting or surpassing the sales targets
  • Salesforce: Understanding and willingness to learn and invest time in platform every day to manage your pipeline, while keeping your opportunities and dashboard updated daily
  • Managing external relationships: OAM programs are vendor-first initiatives, and the core focus is to drive success for our vendors, from communication all the way to delivery and final reporting
  • Develop and present engaging marketing materials, such as webinars and event presentations, to generate interest in OAM programs
  • Foster strong internal relationships to build and execute successful campaigns

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years media sales, planning, buying or programmatic experience with an agency, publisher, or similar
  • Strong data analysis skills: Proficient in cleaning, analyzing, and drawing actionable insights from raw data sets.
  • Ability to probe vendor needs thoroughly to determine how you can help them drive sales results
  • Strong understanding of digital media performance and reporting
  • Experience in a vendor facing role, presenting, and handling objections
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities; ability to present and simplify complex topics
  • Understanding of how digital media works and the role the different channels play in the conversion / customer funnel
  • Naturally curious with a strong inclination for problem-solving and discovering insights
  • Action-Oriented: Bias towards acting and achieving results
  • Retail industry experience is an asset
