Program & Services Director - Sheshatshiu, NL
Jump Recruitment Specialists has partnered with Shushepeshipan Ishpitentamun Mitshuap Inc. (SIM) in search of a full-time permanent Program & Services Director for their Sheshatshiu, NL location.
Reporting to the Executive Director of SIM, the Program & Services Director will oversee operational priorities and leadership of the SIM management and support team. He/she will ensure all managers/support team are provided with support and guidance to successfully meet their mandates and objectives.
Who we are
SIM Inc is an Innu led, Innu managed not for profit organization established to oversee residential placement resources for Innu children in the care of the Department of Children Seniors and Social Development (CSSD).
There are three staffed placement homes that include the Shushepeshipan Group Home and two Emergency Placement Homes (EPHs): Manishan Nui Kaishpitenamat Auassa Mitshuap Peik and Nish. All three homes are 24-hour staffed placement homes using the Innu Care Approach and Practice Framework for operational guidance.
The Job
- Being primarily responsible for ensuring that all management staff complete duties and expectations as described in individual job descriptions and using policies and procedures to guide tasks.
- Devise and implement strategies for improving company culture and increasing engagement of management team.
- Build relationships and trust with all levels of management, acting as a coach, providing guidance, advice, and support in their growth and development as individual leaders, coaching and mentoring all members of the management team.
- Working with all SIM managers in a collaborative effort to carry out organizational, placement-specific, and child-specific goals.
Responsible for monitoring and supervising the Ops Managers Supervision includes, but is not limited to:
- Holding monthly 1:1 Supervision meetings.
- Tracking and identifying needed professional development and training.
- Ensuring that all staff are adhering to all organizational policies, procedures, and standards, in addition to any relevant laws, and requirements outlined through CSSD Policy & Regulations.
- Planning and co-facilitating regular staff meetings.
- Performance management & evaluations of all management staff.
- Collaborating with the Executive Director regarding performance issues (non-disciplinary), including follow-up.
- Being primarily responsible for the management of performance issues (disciplinary) of staff in collaboration with the Executive Director and Human Resource Coordinator.
Attending and taking part in all meetings, as well and ensuring that management staff are attending and participating in all required meetings, including but not limited to:
- Daily morning huddles
- Bi-weekly management meetings
- Regular placement home staff meetings
- Monthly 1:1 Supervision Meetings with the Executive Director
- Monthly Board Meetings
- Budgetary meetings with the Executive Director
Providing oversight to ensure management staff are being accountable for ensuring that all staff are completing required documentation accurately and adequately, and that staff are maintaining all necessary documentation in records, reports, and client files. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Shift Reports.
- Medication Documentation.
- Service Delivery Plans.
- Individual Progress Reports.
- Reviewing Incident Reports completed by staff daily.
- On-Call documentation.
- Quarterly Updates for the Board.
- All financial requests including purchase orders, timesheets, expense claims, and any other not otherwise listed here.
- Case Notes.
- Ensuring that correct and necessary communication occurs between all staff
- Knowing and implementing the Innu Care Approach Practice Framework, as well as using the Innu Care Approach Practice Framework to inform discussions in team huddles and staff meetings.
- Ensure placement homes continue to meet all CSSD regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Always enforcing and abiding by the Code of Conduct.
- Performing other required duties on an as-needed basis, including acting for the ED when required
Qualifications
- Experience leading others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and proactive.
- Interacts in a respectful and professional manner. Speaks, reads, and writes effectively in English.
- Communication in Innu Aimun an asset but not required.
- Works well with a variety of personalities and cultures.
- Maintains a positive attitude.
- Is receptive to new ideas and adapts to change as necessary.
- Has a basic knowledge of Google Workspace (Google Suite of Programs) computer applications, or willingness to learn.
- Must maintain professional standards of behaviour (on and off duty) expected of an employee of an organization with responsibility and authority for children and youth in care.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Must have an appreciation and respect for the community of Sheshatshiut, its history and unique culture.

Minimum Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
- Acceptable Record of Conduct which includes both a criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check.
- Child Protection Record Check that grants clearance.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality.
