Job Summary
The Clerk II is responsible for answering the telephone, screening calls and delivering messages. They receive and dispatch information to other hospital departments. They will imprint charts, Kardex, flow sheets, etc. for newly admitted patients, ensure the chart is complete and in order when patient is discharged, transferred or deceased. The Clerk II will sort daily lab reports, etc., and place them on patient chart. They ensure there is adequate stationary supplies and replenish unit file cabinets as necessary. They will also complete admission books on arrival or discharge of patients. This position will receive and sort mail, maintain current patient list on information boards, and ensure all patients have I.D. bands. The Clerk II will order dietary supplies and stock them in the refrigerator. They will deliver specimens and blood products to the lab and obtain blood products from the lab. They will check in patient's belongings and secure in lockers. The Clerk II will also be responsible for data entry of payroll, delivery of trays to patients, assisting in transport of patients, cleaning of equipment (IV poles, pumps etc.) and restocking of bedsides. Other related duties as required.

Job Demands
By applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):
Constantly lifts objects less than 5lbs and lifts up to between 20 - 40 lbs. when emptying boxes of supplies, and when carrying linen bags. May be required to maneuver carts and use a step ladder to access higher shelves.
Constantly performs fine finger/precision work while sitting and using a computer mouse, scheduling appointments, and other duties.
Work provides the opportunity to stand and walk and the opportunity to take postural breaks (sit, stand or walk) within the office environment.
Frequently required to perform bilateral repetitive fine motor skills when performing various computer work duties that involve typing and use of the computer's mouse.

Job Qualifications
Successful completion of a one-year Office Administration program from an approved/recognized college is required.
Successful completion of an approved/recognized medical terminology course is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.

* Proof of a current office administration program and medical terminology is required. To be considered current, they must have been completed within the last five years, unless it has been used in recent positions. This must be demonstrated on the application form.

** If medical terminology isn't current, a medical terminology test may be administered by the Human Resources Client Services Department.
