The Capital Equipment team in our Valuations, Modelling & Economics (VME) group works on a wide variety of assignments, from office-based to national and international travel; small to large clients; from an assignment that lasts a couple of days to very large assignments working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Your key responsibilities

As a Senior/Manager, you have the opportunity to work within our Capital Equipment Valuation team. You will be responsible for leading and participating in valuation and financial analyses and applying capital equipment appraisal theories and approaches, including: gathering relevant supporting information; analyzing equipment, market and research information; participating in the formulation of valuation approaches; developing valuation models; reviewing third party appraisals and the preparation of valuation reports for a variety of matters including tax and financial reporting. You will expand and strengthen existing client relationships by participating in internal and external business development activities.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Analyze the assets subject to valuation;
  • Create the valuation model underlying your value conclusions;
  • Document your findings in a comprehensive report detailing your valuation procedures and results;
  • Review capital equipment valuation reports and prepare your report of findings;
  • Establish relationships with client personal at appropriate levels;
  • Manage your time to budgets and communicate progress against plan to the project manager; and
  • Work effectively as a team member, sharing your technical and other knowledge, providing support, maintaining communication and updating senior team members on progress.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, business, finance or accounting with demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative analysis;
  • Senior: 3+ years plant and equipment valuation experience
  • Manager: 5+ years plant and equipment valuation experience.
  • Previous work experience within a Big 4 valuation or a major appraisal firm.
  • ASA (Machinery & Technical Specialty), AIC and/or RICS accreditation is an advantage.
  • Strong MS Office skills in particular MS Excel modeling skills.
  • Experience within a national valuation firm or experience in an accounting, insurance or engineering firm;
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Excel/Word/Power Point;
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial data, commercial documentation and reports, draw appropriate conclusions and make recommendations.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Experience performing and reviewing tangible asset valuations for financial reporting and tax purposes would be advantageous
  • Analytical, proactive and eager to learn and grow, with strong communication and interpersonal skills both internally and in client facing situations.
