SFC-General Maintenance Associate (Mon to Thurs 4pm - 2:30am)

Position Purpose:
This person will play a key role in helping the RDC team maintain the overall facility and the many assets used throughout the building. This includes changing and/ or servicing all material handling equipment (MHE) batteries, maintaining and running the floor scrubber, operating the baler/compactor and performing light utility and maintenance activities for the facility.
Scope of Role: General DC Maintenance functions such as but not limited to: Maintaining the battery charging area and batteries, changing the batteries on all MHE, maintaining baling operations, light utility & maintenance work around the facility i.e. repairs, assembly, re-locating and setting up assets, running and maintaining floor scrubber.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Ability to operate and maintain all cleaning equipment including the operation and maintenance of a floor scrubber and corrugate baler
  • Ability to operate and maintain battery changing equipment including the exchange of MHE batteries
  • Ability to operate any material handling equipment associated with DC support and maintenance i.e. floor scrubber, scissor lifts, battery changing equipment, MHE.
  • Complete minor utility assignments around the facility through the use of various hand and power tools
  • Work safely and productively with minimal supervision
  • Maintain orderly condition and housekeeping of your assigned work area
  • Identify and report any repairs or safety issues requiring attention
  • Be reliable by maintaining good attendance with minimal occurrences of lateness
  • Display behaviours that are consistent with Home Depot's Values
  • Consistently adhere to all Home Depot policies and procedures
  • Follow Home Depot safety policies and procedures and encourage other Associates to do the same
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Manager to effectively complete assigned tasks
  • Deliver outstanding customer service to internal distribution teams maintaining attention to detail and completing assigned work in a timely manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Experience Required:

  • Previous Distribution/ Transportation experience is an asset
  • Experience operating a forklift or Walkie-rider is an asset
  • Able to move and/or lift up to 69 pounds
  • Able to work at heights up to 36 feet
  • Ability to work well with others in a group and foster a team climate where associates are committed to a common set of performance goals and targets
  • Must be able and willing to perform all related job functions and activities
  • Very good communication and listening skills are required
  • Able to work additional hours as required supporting the needs of our customers
