The NSCAD Director of Development is a key leader within our Advancement team and the University as a whole. An energetic, strategic person that is equally comfortable hands on in a project and enjoys detail. The Director of Development is responsible for driving annual fundraising and sponsorship efforts - revenue of at least $1 million per year - while overseeing the Advancement business systems. This role will lead a team, manage a diverse portfolio of donors, and support on-campus events and programming related through fundraising. The position is based at NSCAD's Fountain Campus, with the Director enjoying the benefit of a private office.

Responsabilités
  • Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for annual fundraising campaigns and sponsorship acquisition, led by the Seriously Creative Plan and aligned with the Campaign and University priorities. This includes a direct response program, and midlevel giving, as well as sponsorships for the Student Art Award, Film Festival, Fashion Show, and other events as needed.
  • Cultivate and manage a portfolio of relationships (up to 75) with individual, corporate, and foundation donors with a focus on contributions under $1 million.
  • Consult with the CPO and other members of the Leadership Team to identify institutional priorities for funding.
  • Oversee and ensure the effective operation of Advancement business systems, including but not limited to donor and alumni database (Blackbaud RENXT), and receipting processes complying with Canada Revenue Agency regulations.

  • Ensure regular and accurate reporting to donors about the value of the endowment and ongoing use of funds.

  • Manage the Advancement Services Officer to ensure accuracy and efficiency in database management, results reporting and timely donor relations.

  • The Development Director serves as the primary internal liaison from Advancement to ensure seamless communication and coordination between the Advancement team and various operational administrative and academic departments, including Finance, the office of the Dean of Students, the Academic Dean regarding use of funds, including but not limited to scholarship/bursaries/awards, equipment, program support.

  • The Director will review, refine, implement and adhere to protocols for communicating the terms and conditions of new gifts to these departments. This includes working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that all departments are informed about the specifics of new donations, their intended use, and any associated reporting requirements.

  • Similarly, the Director will oversee the collection of information related to use of funds from the same operational departments to enable timely reporting to donors.

  • Collaborate with campus departments to support and enhance on-campus events and programming with engagement objective.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree plus Five to seven years of successful experience in all aspects of fundraising general fundraising, and specific experience in major gifts is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Previous experience in higher education or the arts and culture sector is preffered. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation preferred. Proven experience in planning and delivering complex fundraising strategies is required. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and coach employees effectively is required. Strong interpersonal skills and proficient in computer applications related to fundraising - MS Office Suite, ReNXT, iWave required. Willingness and ability to travel is required. A valid passport and drivers license is also required.
