Job description

Robert L. Knowles Veterans Unit is a 13 bed non profit Nursing Home Unit located in Bathurst, New Brunswick.

Mandate:

Reporting to, and in collaboration with the Chief Executive Officer of Atlantic Baptist housing, the Manager of Clinical Operations participates in the planning, organizing, and directing of activities for the nursing department, Activity Coordinator, Rehabilitation services, and Dietitian services. In conjunction with the Chief Executive Officer provides a standard of resident care consistent with available resources and in accordance with the Mission, Philosophy, Policies, Goals and Objectives of the Home.

The ideal candidate brings a balanced perspective to resolving workplace issues and is an exceptional team player with outstanding oral and written communication skills. The ability to build and foster productive relationships with employees, co-workers and union representatives while creating and encouraging an environment of openness, trust and collaboration is essential.

Responsibilities for the position include, but are not limited to:

Ensures compliance with New Brunswick Nursing Home Acts and Regulations to meet Nursing Home Inspection Standards.

Ensures implementation of Departmental Policy and Procedures.

In conjunction with the CEO and the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home Clinical team reviews/updates internal policies as required.

Responsible for compliance to Infection Control policies and procedures.

Responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) assessment tool as it pertains to the residents of Robert L. Knowles.

In collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, the Manager of Clinical Operations facilitates the admissions and discharges of residents.

Manages processes to integrate clinical practice guidelines and evidence-based care and service into clinical practice.

Develops and maintains good interpersonal, communication and nursing skills and utilizes these skills in work with residents, families, volunteers, visitors, and other staff.

Maintains resident confidentiality and respects the residents' right to privacy.

Ensures the safety and well being of the resident is respected.

Communicates and collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer and carries out any related activity as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

Provides leadership and management of the staff working Robert L. Knowles including Registered Nurses, Resident Attendants, Activity Coordinator, Rehabilitation services and Dietitian.

Works collaboratively with the Manager of Site Operations - Villa Chaleur Inc., as it pertains to the Dietary, Housekeeping/Laundry and Maintenance departments and their supports and services provided to the Residents of Robert L. Knowles.

Show leadership; steer and motivate the team to implement the company's mission and values

Active member of internal committees

Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Baccalaureate Nursing Degree from an accredited program

Active registration in the Nurses Association of New Brunswick is required.

Three (3) years management experience in Nursing Home, Long Term Care and/or other related Healthcare fields.

Strong management, leadership, communication, and team building skills are required.

Good previous work and attendance record.

Equivalent combination of qualifications, education and experience will be considered.

Knowledge of and experience in working within unionized environments is essential.

Fluent in both official languages (written and verbal) preferred.

Knowledge of Performance Management, Attendance Management, and Labor Relations.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in interpreting and developing written policies and procedures.

Demonstrated ability to seek out and suggest alternate procedures to meet objectives and strict deadlines.

Proficiency with various software applications programs including e-mail messaging applications, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are necessary.

Hands-on and pro-active approach and ability to work without strict guidance.

Ability to balance company and employee needs, handle confidential information and stressful situations with tact and sensitivity.

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish trusted relationships with management members and employees.

Successful candidates must have leadership abilities and strong communications skills. The ideal candidate must have the ability to promote a positive safe work environment and establish effective working relationships.
