Job Information and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Associate Vice-President, Enrolment Management, the Manager, Academic Program Development and Review will:

  • Provide leadership to the institution in supporting the strategic development and quality assurance processes for academic programs mandated by the Senate and guided by the Academic Planning Committee (APC).
  • As part of a formal operational process mandated by the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission (MPHEC), this position will manage the annual cycle of program reviews and provide expertise and support to academic departments and programs in areas of curriculum development and renewal, articulation of program goals, and graduate attributes, and assessment of student learning.
  • Be dedicated in its integrated scope to support the university's strategic enrolment plan (SEM) and strategic priorities in all three key areas that support discovery and innovation in a learning-centred environment, intercultural leaning, and ensuring institutional sustainability through program development, renewal and review.

Experience and Education Requirements

To be the successful Manager, Academic Program Development and Review you will have:

  • Completion of a Master's Degree. Educational Development is preferred.
  • Minimum seven (7) to nine (9) year's related experience.
  • Several years of experience in a university setting with a strong background in university level teaching and learning and curriculum development.
  • Superior organization and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
  • High level empirical primary research skills with the ability to conceive, develop, carry out analyze and report on experiential approaches to pedagogical development.
  • Knowledge of industry and academic best practices.
  • Ability to make decisions and achieve goals in a high-paced environment with multiple, competing priorities
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential material.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.
