The Office of People and Culture at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Harassment and Discrimination Advisor.

Responsabilités

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, People and Culture, the Harassment & Discrimination Advisor ('Advisor') acts as a resource to staff, faculty, students, and to the Harassment & Discrimination Policy Committee. The Advisor works with Human Resources, the EDIA Advisor, the Special Advisor on Indigenous Affairs, Student Experience, and others on campus to educate on all aspects of harassment and discrimination. The Advisor also acts as a member of the prevention and response team for the Policy Against Sexualized Violence, and serves as a member of the Sexual Violence Prevention Advisory Committee. They are responsible for facilitating informal resolution processes and formal investigations when necessary, as well as making recommendations regarding training and education in the area of Harassment, Discrimination and Sexualized Violence. All the duties of the office are carried out in a confidential, fair, and impartial manner, consistent with the principles of procedural fairness.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a related bachelor's degree, such as in Education, Social Sciences, or Business Administration, with three years' related experience in a similar role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A related Master's degree is considered an asset. Candidates will be knowledgeable about relevant legislation such as the Nova Scotia Human Rights Act, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, and the NS Accessibility Act. They will have extensive experience and skill in conflict resolution and interpreting policies and collective agreements. They will be a strong communicator with proven success in obtaining cooperative and innovative solutions to complex problems. A background in conducting mediations and delivering workshops and educational sessions is an asset. It will be important to have experience working from a trauma informed approach. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and have an aptitude for, or previous experience, using business enterprise systems such as Colleague and SharePoint.
