Student Residences and Ancillary Operations
(Contractual Position to March 31, 2026)
DUTIES
Reporting to the Bookstore Purchasing Clerk and the Manager, University Bookstore, the Intermediate Clerk Stenographer will perform moderately difficult and varied clerical work which involves some independent judgment. Duties include data entry and record keeping for general merchandise products, quoting for special orders of merchandise, processing special orders for non-book merchandise with suppliers; handling internal requisitions and external billing for special orders; maintaining and administering the Convocation Gown Rental Program through the Bookstore; responding to inquiries for students, faculty, staff, the general public and suppliers concerning bookstore operations; maintaining customer service standards; performing customer transactions and refunds as cashier; receiving, shelving and merchandising products; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience (1-3 years) in moderately difficult and varied clerical work; completion of a one-year program from community college, including or supplemented by courses in business education or word processing is required. An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers, faculty, staff and students is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, retail inventory systems, and retail operations would be assets.
SALARY $43,119 - $50,582 per annum (CUPE Local 1615)
