As a Senior Architect with our Healthcare Infrastructure Division, you will be responsible for managing the design and implementation phase of Provincial Healthcare Infrastructure projects. Working to define the scope of a project by gathering information from stakeholders to understand what drives their hospital system and their interdependencies, you will oversee programming, planning and pre-design activities, supervise design, and reviewing consultant-prepared documentation. You will also participate in the procurement of design and construction services and work closely with the project manager(s) to ensure work is completed within the pre-established parameters of budget, schedule, quality and scope while adhering to policies, design documents, health and safety regulations, and all applicable codes and standards for healthcare facilities. During construction, you will maintain familiarity with the progress and quality of construction and provide advice to the construction project manager and contractors as well as ensure stakeholders are kept up to date and involved as appropriate. This position will report to the Project Director, Shared Technical Services.
This is a five (5) year term position which is eligible for all Build Nova Scotia benefits.

- Support with procurement of contractors that meet organizational requirements.
- Ensure architectural work is complete on schedule, within budget and that quality and policies are adhered to.
- Manage relationships with various groups of internal and external stakeholders to mitigate project risks and ensure that project objectives are met.
- Continuously demonstrate leadership competencies and positively support organizational policies and procedures.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with various teams and stakeholders and multiple support-service organizations to mitigate project risks and ensure all project objectives are achieved.
- As the ideal candidate, you are registered, or are eligible for registration, with the Nova Scotia Association of Architects.
- Must have a bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering or related discipline.
- Equivalent combinations of training, education and experience may be considered.
- You have experience working on all phases of architectural design projects, from concept through to completion, and have strong project management experience that comes from large infrastructure projects.
- Your experience in producing construction drawings show your ability to review and red-line construction documents, both from the viewpoint of the architectural discipline and other stakeholders.
- Possessing the communication skills necessary to build and manage relationships you can work with of a diverse group of stakeholders to effectively evaluate their needs and gain buy-in to new ideas.
- You have demonstrated that you can employ creative thinking to find effective budget solutions which do not compromise the functionality or quality of the services and facilities and your ability to multi-task will serve you well in this dynamic environment.
- Project management experience within Public-Private Partnerships (P3) or healthcare facilities would be considered an asset.
- Experience negotiating claims, scope changes and other compliance and contractual items on projects is desirable.
