You will assist in finalizing financial results for internal and external reporting. With a keen attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, you prepare adjusting consolidation entries and analyze financial results for timely, accurate reporting of internal management reports and numerous external reports including financial statements and note disclosure continuities.

**This opportunity is for a 16-month term

Here's where you'll be focusing:

• Complete timely month end close and management reporting activities
• Accountable for preparing/posting consolidation journal entries and ensuring all entries are accurate and supported
• Consolidate Sobeys Inc. structured entities in English Canada
• Consolidate Sobeys Inc. and Empire Company Limited and their subsidiaries each period
• Compile period close documentation with all consolidation sign-offs and support
• Assist in the preparation of monthly period close report for senior management
• Track and validate site updates to ensure the accuracy of consolidated results
• Validate submissions (retained earnings opening, intercompany reports, continuities, etc.)
• Coordinate with the finance teams to ensure timely and accurate submissions
• Follow up with finance teams for variance analysis on financial results
• Collaborate with external reporting and tax teams to ensure accurate reporting
• Responsible for the review and improvement of current processes, procedures, and documentation
• Complete legal entity balancing at year end for all of Sobeys Inc. and Empire Company Limited legal entities
• Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and internal policies and procedures
• Work closely with external auditors each quarter and provide reports and support files
• Complete ad hoc reporting
• Other duties and projects as assigned

What you have to offer:

Required:
• 2+ years Accounting/Finance experience in progressively responsible positions
• Relevant Post Secondary education (Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, etc.)
• Extremely proficient in use of the Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly with a variety of audiences and levels of management
• Ability to successfully manage several tasks at one time
• Ability to work in a deadline driven environment, and under limited supervision
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with an ability to work within a team environment
• Ability to manage highly sensitive information and situations involving internal and external customers
• Intuitive approach to Continuous Improvement

Preferred:
• Completion of or working towards a professional accounting designation
• Experience with journal entries and consolidation
• Experience with retail accounting
• Experience working for a large national company
• Experience with Business Process and Consolidation (BPC), SAP, Central Finance, and SAP BI reporting software
