Nutrition & Food Services General Application

Closing Date: October 9, 2024

Horizon Health Network is one of Atlantic Canada's top employers! We want you to come work with us!

Horizon Health Network is actively recruiting for these positions within our Nutrition and Food Services department: Red Seal Cooks, Prep Cooks, Food Service Workers, and Patient Menu Clerks for casual employment.

Our casual employees do not have guaranteed hours of work each week - we call you when we need you!

These positions are for our facilities in Saint John, Sussex, and St. Stephen.

Nutrition and Food Services Professionals have an important role in healthcare. From the cooks and prep cooks who plan and prepare food in the kitchen, to patient menu clerks who help patients with menu selections, to food services workers who serve food in the cafeteria, every role is important in providing quality care to patients, visitors, and their families.

If your talent matches one of these job opportunities, we may contact you for further information.

What you will do

As a Red Seal Cook, you will prepare and create menu items to align with patient dietary needs, prepare weekly menu plans, and established food standards.

As a Prep Cook, you will help the cooks by preparing food (like slicing meats, chopping and cooking vegetables, and measuring ingredients) using proper food handling techniques.

As a Food Services Worker, you will serve food, prepare meal trays, and work on the cafeteria serving line.

As a Patient Menu Clerk, you will help patients with their menu selections, and make sure their choices match their dietary needs. You will also complete some administrative tasks related to this process (such as data entry and creating reports).

Who you are

  • You have a high school diploma or have similar work experience.
  • You have food safety training / certification.
  • You can communicate in English.
  • To work as a cook, a Red Seal designation is also required.
