Located in Cumberland County, Wentworth is one of the premiere outdoor destinations in Atlantic Canada. Now in its third generation of family leadership, Wentworth is the largest ski area in the Maritimes, hosting over 70,000 visitors a year. A four season operation, Wentworth has recently added lift serviced mountain biking to its broad slate of outdoor recreational offerings.
Wentworth has an immediate opportunity for an energetic and growth-focused individual in the "hands-on" role of Accountant, overseeing accounting and administrative and internal control functions for this rapidly expanding business.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Accountant shall be responsible for several key areas, including the following:
- Performing and/or overseeing all accounting, administrative support and office services
- Administration of all payroll processing duties for a seasonal staff of over 100 employees
- Accurate and timely processing & payment of accounts payable vendor invoices
- Preparing monthly financial statements, budgets and other financial analyses
- Implementing and monitoring internal control procedures
- Providing professional, courteous and knowledgeable customer service
The ideal candidate will possess three to five years' experience in an accounting capacity, and will also possess the following attributes:
- Degree/Diploma in accounting, business, or related field (or comparable work experience)
- Excellent organizational, planning and implementation skills
- Superior interpersonal skills
- Experience with small to mid-sized business accounting software along with thorough knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls.
This full-time position will be primarily based in Truro, with regular travel to Wentworth to remain engaged in the operations of the business.
