The Role

Reporting to the Director of Recreation and Community Safety, the Manager of Community Recreation Programs plans, develops and oversees sport, recreation, event, culture, youth and leisure programs to ensure that activities and offerings meet the needs of the community, are accessible to all community members, and provide a comprehensive year-round program maximizing the use of City facilities.

The Manager provides leadership to employees; develops policies and procedures to oversee all programs, monitors and evaluates operating and capital budgets, assesses risk management practices for all related programs; ensures healthy and safe program offerings to meet the needs of our demographic; and drafts and manages plans and agreements with partner organizations that will support the continued growth of programs to the community.

As a member of the Management Team, the Manager liaises with other City departments, divisions and outside agencies in order to further the interests of the citizens of Mount Pearl. The Manager also contributes to the development of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, the City's business plan and operational policy to direct staff decision-making and action.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess significant years of experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in the management of community and recreation programming; completion of a degree in Recreation Management; or an equivalent combination of experience and training acceptable to the City.
